Taylor Swift fans marked the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards as theirs after the pop star received the inaugural Artist Director Honors on Sunday night, making her the most‑awarded artist in VMA history.

During the show Swift debuted the music video for her new song “Patient Zero”. The visual, which she wrote and directed, features actors Colin Farrell and Dakota Johnson, adding to the 18 music videos she has written and directed to date.

According to France 24, the honor moves Swift past Beyoncé, giving her a total of 31 VMA wins and awards. Previously the two artists were tied at 30 each, according to France 24.
